The City of Islamabad
Pakistan's Capital ISLAMABAD nestles against the backdrop of the Margalla Hills at the northern end of Pothowar Plateau. It offers a healthy climate, pollution free atmosphere, plenty of water and lush green area. It is a modern and carefully planned city with wide tree-lined streets, large houses elegant public buildings and well-organised markets/shopping centres. There are rarely crowds or traffic jams and few narrow lanes or slums; the walkways are shaded and safe and separated from the traffic by rows of flame trees, jacaranda and hibiscus. Rose, Jasmine & bougainvillea fill the parks and scenic viewpoints shoe the city to its best advantage.
The building of Islamabad as the new capital city of Pakistan began in the early 1960s. It is situated in the extreme north of the Indus basin. The site is spread over 1165 sq kms with natural terraces and meadows, flanked on the north by the picturesque Margalla Hills.
Commercial Areas
The main business and commercial centre is Blue Area. Other major commercial markets include Supermarket in F-6, Jinnah Supermarket in F-7 and F-10 Market. Islamabad is also well known for its open-air weekly markets, the most well known of which is the Jumma and Sunday Bazaars at Abpara.
Cuisine and Food
In Islamabad, there are many Pakistani, Chinese, Italian and American fast food restaurants, which provide meals at cheap rates. They are open till late night.
In the summer months (April to September), the maximum average temperature is 35 and the minimum average is 24 degree celcius . In winter (October to March) the maximum average is 16 and the minimum average 3 .
Sight Seeing in Islamabad
Islamabad has many tourists attractions. The most visited places include: Rawal Lake, Simly Lake, Daman-e-Koh Viewpoint, Rose and Jasmeen Garden, Children Adventure Playground, Shakarparrian Park, Shah Faisal Mosque and Friendship Sports Stadium.
Cool cotton clothes are recommended during summer months. In winter, warm clothing is necessary, particularly in the evening.
The unit of currency is the Pakistani Rupee. The estimated exchange rates for the following foreign currencies against the rupee are:

1 UK £ = Rs. 198.44
1 Euro = Rs. 179.30
1 US $ = Rs. 161.25

Moneychangers are available at the Islamabad Airport, hotels and at major markets in the city like Blue Area.
The easiest way to get around the city is by taxi / Uber / Careem Service. It is better to agree on fare first before getting on the taxi.
